Buyer Beware

“If only I had come to PAT before starting my CPL I would have saved both time and money “

We may appear to be more expensive than other schools if you simply look at our price per hour.  However, please note the following:

  1. We believe in including everything in our prices. There are no hidden extras such as VAT, landing fees,170A fees, fuel surcharges etc. If you do your courses in minimum hours and achieve a first time pass, the prices quoted in the table below are what you will pay.
  2. Our courses are not structured to be the cheapest possible option. They are structured in order to give you the best chance of achieving a first time pass in minimum hours, e.g. the IR consists of 20 hours flying, rather than the minimum 15 and all of the flying on a multi IR course is done in the Duchess, rather than some in a single.
  3. We achieve excellent pass rates. Our first time pass rate (not first series pass rate!) since April 2007 has been as follows:

This is against the national average of 63% on the CPL and 61% on the IR.

For the 150 hour pilot looking for full courses, PAT offers five options for the order in which you do your CPL, Multi and IR training. Those looking for abridged courses, e.g foreign licence conversions, please go straight to our price list:

  1. Single engine CPL, Multi Rating, Instrument Rating
  2. Multi Engine CPL (combined single engine and multi engine course), Instrument Rating
  3. Multi Engine CPL (all multi-engined flying), Instrument Rating
  4. Multi Rating, Instrument Rating, Single-engined CPL
  5. Multi Rating, Instrument Rating, Multi-engined CPL

The structures of each of these courses are detailed under the section Course structures and which option you choose is discussed in Selecting your Pilot Training Course.

The following table summarises the five options, showing the number of multi hours and the total price of each option. This price is fully inclusive of everything, i.e. course price, aircraft hire for test (first attempt), test fees (first attempt), all landings/approach fees, all ground briefings and VAT @ 20% (although the price of the aircraft hire for test and the approaches elsewhere are estimates). For the detail of these calculations please contact us.

The hours include the following approximate test times, 1 hour for the Multi Engine Piston Class Rating, and 2 hours each for the CPL and the IR tests.
